Chimney Services

Chimney cleaning is of great importance. The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends annual chimney inspections.

Over time, soot from smoke and other particles build up on the walls of your chimney. Collections of soot can clog your chimney and prevent smoke and soot from leaving your home. Chimney’s release particles from fireplaces and woodstoves, which can develop into deposits that can cause dangerous chimney fires. Proper inspections will maintain the wellness of your chimney.

Keeping a chimney clean and clear of debris is not only important to the safety of your family and fireplace, but keeping a clean chimney will prevent the need for costly repairs caused by a dirty and clogged chimney. Chimney cleaning will allow for appropriate ventilation and the emission of carbon monoxide and flammable gases. A clean chimney is not only essential for keeping a healthy and functioning fireplace and heating system but for the well being of your family too.

What are some signs that my chimney needs to be inspected?

  • Chimneys: A chimneys function is to pull fumes from the system and thus needs a required amount of air for the system to operate properly. Soot and clay over time will generally fill the area that connects to the horizontal pipe. It is important to maintain the ventilation of your chimney so that dangerous gases do not spill back into your home and for your system to work at peak efficiency.
  • Fireplace Chimneys: If soot rains down when you open or close your damper or if you measure and have 1/8 of an inch of creosote (a dark brown or black flammable tar) buildup, it is important to get a chimney inspection.
  • Chimney Caps: An inexpensive measure to offer safety and prevent damage, chimney caps function to provide long-term protection for your chimney. They even include an animal guard to prevent birds, squirrels and other small animals from entering your chimney. Chimney caps come in several varieties which depend on where you live or on special circumstances that will best fit your needs.
  • Gas burner Chimneys: Blockage in the chimney flue is an easy way for carbon monoxide to enter your home. Often older gas chimneys will contain an older terra cotta lining which will chip over time and can cause blockage. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas and could be a serious danger to your family.
